Projects
In this space, I will share impactful projects that I had the privilege of implementing during my time in Zambia. Each project represented a unique opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of people and Zambian communities.
NAME OF THE PROJECT: MUNSAKAMBA YOUTH PROJECT
Sexual abuse, early pregnancies, kidnappings, harassment, alcohol and drug abuse, illiteracy, theft. These are the tragic events that the youth in Munsakamba face and that we are trying to eradicate from this district. Zambia is primarily a peaceful country, but poverty and hunger can cause people to lose their sanity, rationality, and sometimes their dignity. Children, some as young as 10 years old, walk over 30 km DAILY to go to school and return home. The street is dangerous for many reasons: lack of pedestrian paths and limited road signage, high temperatures, and heavy rainfall, especially during this season. There is a risk of being kidnapped, harmed, or sexually abused. The youth are often involved in alcoholism, drug use, absenteeism from school, and grow up without education, leading them to a life of crime for survival. Currently, we are collaborating with the community and traditional leaders to build two boarding facilities (one for girls and one for boys) at Munsakamba Combined School to keep the students safe in a supervised educational environment. This is why my team of Development Instructors and I embarked on this project.
Other Projects
In this space, we will explore a series of projects that, although they may not receive as much attention as the previous one, are equally important in their impact and contribution to a better future.
